I’ve loved design ever since I was first introduced to Photoshop in school and I realised there was a way to combine my passions for art and technology. I developed my skills through a digital media focused graphic design degree at the University for Creative Arts in Surrey, and building websites in my spare time. After I graduated I began working at the design studio Neoco on both UI design and frontend development for client’s including the Southbank Centre London, and Touchnote.
In 2010 I joined Pushbutton and continued to grow my skills as a multi-device UX designer, creating applications for mobile and tablet devices. Pushbutton was acquired by Amazon in 2011 and my focus moved to television design as I helped shape the design of Amazon Video on consoles and Smart TVs. In 2014 I relocated to Seattle, and have been living in the city ever since. After moving I worked on the original Fire TV experience, collaborating on the core UI, and leading the design for the video player and Music app.
In 2016 I joined Twitch as the first design hire on Commerce, the team focused on revenue generation for streamers and the company. Over the next few years I worked on each product area within the team, including Subscriptions, Bits, and our payments platform. In 2018 I moved into a management role, starting with overseeing Subscriptions & Payments before expanding to all of Commerce in 2020. Management gave me opportunities to set a design vision, advocate for customers at a leadership level and support my team’s career development. I love being able to coach new designers at the beginning of their career, and grow senior designers as they figure out their long term development goals.
